From the book. I can't remember how to correctly quote from a book, yeah I finished school 5 years ago. Anyway check out this note from page 20:

"Hearing Voices Listening to polyphonic music is like that optical illusion where you either see two faces or a vase, but never see both. If you listen to one line you miss the others, but if you listen to the whole you can't always pick out the individual melodies. That's the beauty of polyphony, and why it bears repeated listening. It never sounds the same twice, and constantly engages your attention."
